I have mixed feelings about this set.
I love the idea of these flashcards. Having a concise set of flashcards to teach children church history is an excellent goal. I will keep many of the cards in the set and use them. Their design is pleasing as well.
However, I wish this company was more forthcoming about which people are included in this set. Some are controversial, and I think Tiny Theologians would do well to at least acknowledge the controversy. For example, there are several cards for women preachers. I don’t want to start a debate about whether they should be included or not, but the company should at least have a list of the cards somewhere so people can be aware of the contents before they buy the set. I will include a list at the end of my review if you are reading this and that kind of issue matters to you.
There are also multiple typos in the cards. If these haven’t already been brought to the company’s attention, here are two I found. 1. Card for Macrina the Younger- 2nd paragraph, 3rd sentence. “Later, Basil of Caesareastarted a similar…”
    2. Card for Dora Yu- 2nd paragraph, 1st sentence- “When Dora returned to her country, she was burdenedto see…”
Simple spacing errors, but a good proofreader should have caught them.

      Hi Jillian!

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback on the Mothers of the Faith Cards that are a part of the Tiny Theologians line. My name is Amy and I’m the founder and creative behind Tiny Theologians, and I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful review of the cards.

Your critiques are well-received. I sincerely always appreciate feedback given in good will. You pointed out two typos on the cards that I was unaware of and that our editor must have missed (I myself and dyslexic, so hiring a professional editor was high on my list when we started producing printed products). I’m embarrassed and sorry about that. We have made the corrections to our digital files so that future sets will be corrected. Again, thanks for kindly pointing this out.

Secondly, you noted that it would be helpful to include a list of the Mothers included in the cards, and I couldn’t agree more! What a great idea! I’ve updated the product page to this end.

Third, I wanted to address your concern that some of the women are controversial because they are preachers. I understand that Christians have various convictions on this topic, and in respect to those who do not believe that women should preach from the pulpit I did not include women who were pastors. The women in this set of cards who preached did so as evangelists. Historically, this would be much more akin to a modern day missionary, rather than a Sunday morning sermon. I hoped that this would abate any controversy on the subject.

Creating lists like this is always difficult! We can only choose twenty, and there are so many women who God has used to raise up the next generation of Christians. All of these women have done that, to God’s glory and for the edification of the Church. I pray this tool is a blessing to you and the little ones in your life!
